Light Elephant is a multi-site installation of a 16-foot-tall inflatable elephant sculpture that culminated around Neighborhood Lights 2017 in the Coldstream Montebello Homestead neighborhood. Prior to the Neighborhood Lights Art installation on Lake Montebello, the sculpture was installed in multiple specific spaces throughout Baltimore with the intention to draw attention to the idiom ‘the elephant in the room’. Artists engaged with neighborhood liaison to determine the various locations. The inflatable elephant was subsequently installed on an anchored raft floating on Lake Montebello and illuminated at sunset every night for eight days.
